PROCTOR FOUNDATION FOR ARTS AND SCIENCE Dr. Sian Leo Proctor, the Godmother of Ultramarine , is the only Black woman to pilot a spacecraft. She’s also founder of the Proctor Foundation for Art and Science, which creates pathways for BIPOC community college students and educators to engage in space science and exploration. The Foundation provides experiential STEAM-focused learning opportunities, including fully funded Space Camp scholarships in partnership with Space Camp USA. Guest donations have supported these scholarships, offering BIPOC students and K–12 educators a chance to participate in hands-on scientific research and discovery.
