The Voyage That Defined Loyalty

THE

CLUB

A Legacy of Loyalty at Sea

In late 1914, Ernest Shackleton and 27 men embarked on the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, setting sail from South Georgia Island aboard Endurance , bound for the last great uncharted frontier—the Antarctic continent. Their goal: to complete the first overland crossing of Antarctica. What followed became one of history’s most extraordinary tales of leadership, resilience and human connection.

Endurance never reached her destination. Trapped and crushed by pack ice in the Weddell Sea, the ship sank in November 1915, leaving the crew stranded on the frozen surface of the ocean for months. What Shackleton did next defied all odds. With five men, he sailed an open 22-foot lifeboat called the James Caird across 800 miles of the world’s most violent ocean to reach a remote whaling station on South Georgia Island— a journey that took 17 days. He then organized a rescue and sailed back for every man left behind, finally reaching them in August 1916, nearly two years after the expedition first set sail. Not one life was lost. His secret wasn’t just survival instinct. It was the fierce loyalty he inspired and the unshakable bond forged between men who had endured the extraordinary together.

That spirit lives at the heart of everything we do.
